Get answers to common questions about Zen Sword training, class schedules, equipment, costs, and what to expect as a new student. Learn how to begin your journey in Shim Gum Do Sword practice with confidence.

No. Beginners are welcome, and classes are designed for students of all experience levels.

Wear comfortable workout clothing and bring water. A wooden practice sword can be purchased in class if needed.

New students typically use a wooden practice sword called a Bokken. You may bring your own or purchase one during class for $10.

Classes are $10 per session. You can pay per class or pay for several classes in advance.

Classes include warm-ups, sword forms, partner exercises, meditation, mind training, and instructor guidance.

Students often improve focus, balance, coordination, confidence, physical fitness, and stress management through regular practice.

Classes are taught by Kevin Daly, who has trained in Shim Gum Do since 1993 and has over 30 years of teaching experience.
